I’m throwing out a challenge to all my brothers & sisters in Christ… We’ve all heard about the Pro-Life commercial getting refused and the Drag Queen commercial being the first of it’s kind during this year’s Super Bowl. Anger. Outrage. Shock. Insult. These are among the many adjectives floating around Facebook.
A couple of years ago, American Idol had a Drag Queen in the top 10. I was frustrated, thinking it was more of the LGBTQ agenda being shoved down our throats. When it was his turn to sing, I left the room in disgust. Fuming to God in a prayer to intervene and stop these people from infiltrating our lives, I was convicted and quickly moved to tears.
The man singing as a Drag Queen was actually pretty good and the judges were able to look past the make-up and costume to hear his voice. Yet, I, a believer in Jesus Christ, only saw a sickening person without any decency. I began to weep as I asked God to forgive me for my judgmental attitude. God, too, was able to look past the mask and getup the man wore and He saw a heart that was wounded and in need of a Savior. “Lord, give me eyes to see them as You see them!”
1 Corinthians 6:11 says, “And that is what some of you were. BUT, you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
Yep – that is what I once was! 33 years ago, Jesus Christ drew me to His side and called me out of the LGBTQ lifestyle. I am washed! I am sanctified! I am justified in the name of Jesus Christ! But only by the grace of God and because of my amazing family and a couple of friends who prayed for me! God moves mountains through prayer!
My challenge to you, is to pray fervently for the Drag Queens in the commercial. They are someone’s sons and brothers, and they are in need of a Savior! They are not all that different from us. We wear masks as well, however, most of us have learned to hide our sins better. Pride. Gossip. Lies. Addictions. We all are in need of a Savior! Don’t just listen to the words they say. The deeper message is that of a sinner who is in need of knowing that Jesus loves them, came to die for their sin and give them eternal life. Let’s look through the guise and see the soul who needs someone to pray for them & reach them with the love of Jesus.
Thanks for joining me! Prayer changes lives! Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!
